Local housebuilder begins work on new Meltham development

Local housebuilder, David Wilson Homes, has acquired land for a new housing development in the village of Meltham, Kirklees that will see the housebuilder construct 88 new homes and bring in over £350,000 to the local economy.

The new site, on which work has now commenced, will sit on six and a half acres of land on the outskirts of the village and will see a range of luxurious two, three and four bedroom homes available in the area.

As part of the agreement for the site, the new David Wilson Homes housing development will also incorporate on site greenspace, and retention and enhancement of an existing public footpath, which will be located within the site.

In addition, as part of Section 106 contributions, David Wilson Homes will also be making payments of over £350,000 to the local community, consisting of £186,000 in education contributions, whilst £177,000 will be put towards open spaces in the area, with pedestrian safety improvements on nearby Helme Lane also set to be provided by the housebuilder.

David Coe, Land Director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, commented:

“It’s great that we’ve been able to acquire the six and a half acre site on the outskirts of Meltham, and work has already commenced on the site to construct 88 new homes for local house hunters. We’re excited to see the new development taking shape over the coming months, and can’t wait to explore further ways in which we can get involved with the local community.”
