Site managers win awards in national housebuilding competition
Local Kent site managers working for housebuilder Barratt Developments, which includes Barratt Homes, Ward Homes and David Wilson Homes, have scooped three prestigious awards in a national competition to find the best-run building sites in Britain.
Kent-based Glenn Day, Mark Fairman and Roy Thompson have been named among this year’s winning site managers.
Glenn is site manager at Martello Lakes in Hythe while Mark, who also won an award last year, oversees work at the new Cane Hill Park development in Coulsdon and Roy is site manager at Tower Hill in Belvedere.
The three local winners were joined by site managers working for Barratt Developments across the UK, which have scooped 79 awards for quality workmanship.
The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry. They are awarded after the construction standard setting body National House-Building Council (NHBC) carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.
Thousands of site managers throughout the UK were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety.
The site managers will now go forward to the final round of the competition which will select the best site manager in Britain.
Barratt Developments managing director Mark Bailey said he was delighted that local site mangers have again been judged as among the best in the housebuilding industry. “The official recognition of the jobs which our winning site managers are doing, shows that we are building some of the best quality homes in the country.
“The site manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring our teams deliver high-quality new homes and we are delighted that our investment in training and developing the very best staff has recognised in this way. This is truly an outstanding result and one which should inspire confidence in our buyers.”
Brandon Lewis, Housing and Planning Minister said, “As government and industry work together to build the homes the country desperately needs, it’s important that housebuilders don’t lose focus on quality. The Pride in the Job Awards are a valuable way of recognising great work on site in construction and Barratt Homes can be proud of their success.”
This award comes on the back of Barratt Developments being awarded five stars by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for customer satisfaction. Barratt is the only major national housebuilder to be ranked as five star by the HBF for the last seven years.
