Two residential towers to transform Salford skyline following planning approval
Alderley Edge-headquartered developer Select Property Group has been given planning consent to deliver 506 new apartments on the banks of the River Irwell in Salford.
The two tower buildings, to be known as Riverside and Riverview, will be located on New Bailey Street near the Lowry Hotel and operate under Select’s Affinity Living banner.
Both sites will feature a range of indoor and outdoor social spaces and facilities, such as lounge areas open to the public, private dining space, co-working areas and a gym.
The homes will comprise studios and a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments. The top level of the Riverview building will feature a media room, roof garden and private entertainment space.
The 35-storey Affinity Living Riverview will contain 318 apartments, while Affinity Living Riverside will house 188 apartments across 17 storeys.
Commenting on Salford City Council’s decision to give the scheme the go-ahead, Select CEO Mark Stott said: “Affinity Living Riverside and Riverview promises to bring something exceptional to a generation of professional young renters in a highly sought after area of the city.
“We are delighted to have been granted planning permission and look forward to starting work on the site.”
Announced today (July 7), the planning decision marks the third nod of approval given to Select’s Affinity Living brand recently. Last month, the company secured the go-ahead to create 677 apartments at Circle Square, a joint project with office space firm Bruntwood. In May, Select’s plan to deliver 684 apartments at Embankment West was greenlit.
Deloitte Real Estate assistant director Niall Alcock commented: “The proposals will deliver significant new high quality residential accommodation from a proven developer and operator and play a key role in securing the long term success of the region.
“This will be the third Affinity Living to be granted planning permission in the Regional Centre over the past two months.”
He added: “Having advised Select on all three schemes, it is exciting to reach another key milestone in bringing this new build-to-rent residential product to the market.”
The scheme was designed by architects Denton Corker Marshall.
Enabling works are due to get underway in October. Affinity Living Riverside is scheduled for completion in Q1 2018, while work on Riverview will round off in Q4 2019.
