US startup Surf Air bringing all-you-can-fly subscriptions to business travellers
The US travel startup Surf Air is launching its all-you-can-fly subscription service in Europe today, offering business travellers unlimited flights for a set fee.
Setting up its European base in Mayfair at 12 Hay Hill, the firm previously described as ‘Uber for the air’ will be offering unlimited air travel to and from London Luton Airport to a number of major European destinations including Paris and Geneva.
Rolling out in October, the service will initially offer daily flights to a number of destinations, bookable online or through the Surf Air app, with weekend routes to Ibiza and even more flights planned for 2017, including Dublin and Amsterdam.
Members pay a monthly fee of £2,500 which allows them to fly an unlimited number of times between the startup’s European destinations on its fleet of seven-seater private corporate jets, with family and guest passes purchasable for £750 one-way.
Simon Talling-Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Surf Air in Europe said: “The whole aim of Surf Air is to combine simplicity and convenience, giving business and leisure travellers across Europe a fresh, new way to fly that saves valuable time.
“We see our model as the future of air travel and it has been greatly received in the California market since its launch. Our innovative service provides fantastic value to regular travellers not seen elsewhere, and we look forward to expanding our club and delivering a distinctive travel experience to Europe’s top destinations.”
Since its launch in California in 2013, Surf Air has attracted over 3,000 members where it offers up to 90 daily flights to 13 destinations within California and further afield.
Said Surf Air Chairman, Sudhin Shahani, added: “We are incredibly excited for the launch of a European business led by highly capable aviation and subscription business veteran Simon Talling-Smith.
“This is a great step to further Surf Air’s growth objective of providing a game-changing product for frequent travellers across major business routes globally.”
