South Yorkshire industrial site acquired for 300,000 sq ft industrial scheme

Gladman Park, a strategic site in South Yorkshire, has been acquired by Barmston Developments for an undisclosed sum.

Acting on behalf of Gladman Developments, CBRE’s Leeds Industrial Agency team sold the 25-acre site, which has planning consent for 300,000 sq ft of new industrial/distribution development.

Gladman Park is located within Wentworth Park Estate off Junction 36 of the M1 Motorway. The scheme has detailed consent for the construction of four units suitable for B1, B2 and B8 industrial/distribution uses totalling some 300,000 sq ft.

Barmston Developments, a joint venture partnership between Wilton Developments and Clugston Estates, has acquired the site to bring forward the development of four new industrial units.

The site is positioned in an industrial location in Tankersley, South Yorkshire with access to the regional and national motorway network via J36 of the M1.

Occupiers within close proximity to the site include Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Distinction Doors Company Shop, ITAB, AECOM, HSBC, McDonalds, Premier Inn and Pilkington Glass.

Andy Hartwright, land director at Gladman Developments, said: “We are pleased to have completed the sale of Gladman Park to Barmston Developments who will bring the development forward. The site has superb connectivity and the capacity to accommodate four units of varying sizes up to 100,000 sq ft and as such will make an important contribution to the regional logistics market.”

Mike Baugh, senior director of industrial agency at CBRE Leeds, added: “The sale of Gladman Park has unlocked this strategic site for the development of much-needed new industrial accommodation on the M1 corridor.

“The sale represents an excellent result for both parties and we look forward to seeing the future development of the site.”

Jason Stowe, director at Barmston Developments, also commented: “This is the JV’s second new EZ development and we are looking forward to working closely with colleagues at the LEP and Barnsley MDC to bring forward what is a significant distribution and manufacturing opportunity in the region.”
