Carlisle training firm snaps up £1m in new business

Cumbrian training business System Training is experiencing a strong demand for its services after snapping up over £1m worth of new contracts during the last 12 months.

In a bid to continue to drive growth, the company has moved its Carlisle team to a city centre training facility on Brunthill Road.

From its new base of operations the firm, which provides training for the transport and logistics industries, will seek to unlock UK-wide expansion over the next three years.

System Training also plans to invest in a new vehicle fleet to support an increasing demand for its LGV driver training offer. According to data, transport and logistics businesses will need an extra 150k drivers by 2020.

Christina Wilcox, of building materials firm Cemex, is one of those to benefit from System Training’s services.

She said: “After leaving school I realised I wanted more from life than being office-based and I love a challenge.

“The logistics apprentice scheme attracted me because it is a challenge, and a challenge working predominantly in a man’s world.”

Dave Crawford, System Training’s director of operations, commented: “With a growing team of experts and the inclusion of additional training capacity, we are playing our part in driving up standards to be the training partner of choice for the logistics sector.

“However, there remains huge demand for drivers, so the next 12 months promises to be even busier as we look to develop our presence further in core sectors on the back of new training courses and facilities.”

System Training currently has a turnover of £9m and employs 60 people.
