New clinic team joins The Oxygen Clinic

The Oxygen Clinic, based in Paddock Wood, Kent, has taken on two new members of staff to help keep up with increasing demand for the clinic’s Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT).

Louise Burgess joins the team as Medical Assistant and will support the clinic’s lead consultant, Dr Robert Pender, in offering oxygen therapy to patients. Having previously worked in a large doctors’ surgery in Maidstone, Louise aims to use her patient interpersonal skills and advance her caring philosophy.

Louise said: “I am very excited to join The Oxygen Clinic, where I hope to expand my knowledge of the many ways in which oxygen therapy can aid patient recovery. I’m looking forward to learning more about the ways this innovative therapy can be used to assist with patients’ recovery and rehabilitation.”

The Oxygen Clinic has also taken on Felicity Gallagher as a new Hyperbaric Chamber Attendant. Her role involves welcoming and registering patients to the clinic and monitoring patients as they undergo HBOT.

Talking about her new position at The Oxygen Clinic, Felicity said: “Witnessing the amazing power of oxygen at work is fascinating. I’ve heard many people in Kent talking about the wonderful results of their treatment at the clinic and I leapt at the chance to join such a dynamic team.

“Over the coming months I hope to complete my training as a certified hyperbaric technician and see more of the amazing effects HBOT can have on people’s lives.”

The Oxygen Clinic offers HBOT, a therapy which treats patients with 100 per cent oxygen at high pressures. The increased pressure causes oxygen to be dissolved into patients’ blood and tissues, penetrating areas of the body that oxygen-carrying red blood cells cannot easily reach to stimulate the healing process.

Originally used to treat decompression sickness (‘the bends’) in deep-sea divers, HBOT has also been shown to improve the growth of new blood vessels and enable white blood cells to fight infection more quickly. Oxygen therapy can improve recovery and ease discomfort from a variety of conditions, from sporting injuries and post-surgical recovery to autism and fibromyalgia.

Dr Pender said: “The popularity of the clinic has grown considerably and now is the right time to expand our team in order to serve our increasing client base. We are delighted to have taken on Louise and Felicity, who will help with the smooth-running of the clinic on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that patients get the most effective and efficient treatment while they are with us.”

The Oxygen Clinic is located in Paddock Wood, Kent, easily accessible from the M20, but in a private location so discretion is assured.
