Blazing first quarter for Sunderland fire safety firm
Fire safety firm MacDonald Martin Ltd is looking to grow its operation across the country, following a string of national contract wins in the last quarter.
Founded by a former RAF serviceman and firefighter Andy Trafford, the business specialises in all aspects of fire, electrical and security systems safety from its base on Leechmere Industrial Estate in Sunderland.
Picking up £200k of new work, the firm has landed contracts with Circle Housing, to provide services to 1,050 properties across London and Birmingham, as well as with York City Council, to complete fire risk assessments and safety and security installations in 180 blocks of flats, five hostels, and 12 sheltered accommodation buildings.
The company has also been listed as the number one provider of fire alarm and emergency lighting installation and maintenance on the Safety and Security Framework, set up in 2013 by National Housing Consortium.
MacDonald Martin Ltd reports that it is now looking to dominate in other areas of the framework as it moves into more sophisticated security services, including installing and maintaining intruder alarms, CCTV and door access systems.
Andy said: “This is a really exciting time for everyone at MacDonald Martin as we secure new work, expand our team of specialists and grow our operation across the country.
“It has been a fantastic year for the business so far, and to be recognised as an industry leader through this framework is testament to all of the team’s hard work, skill and determination to see a job through to completion.”
Andy added: “We’re delighted with how well business is going this year, we’ve taken on four new apprentices to bolster our team and we’re ready for even more as we’re working to make the second half of this year just as successful.”
