International bioprocessing firm to serve Europe more effectively with Birtley investment
International bioprocessing solutions provider Parker domnick hunter has invested in its Birtley premises, allowing the firm to to supply European markets more effectively.
Investing in a new ISO Class 7 clean room, the company will produce single-use manifolds incorporating tubing, bioprocess containers, filters, sensors and other components for use in the bioprocessing industry.
Owning a corresponding operation based in California, USA, the manufacture of manifolds in the UK will enable Parker domnick hunter to supply European markets more effectively, making it easier for biopharmaceutical companies to access specialist manifolds and shortening the supply chain, with resulting benefits for production turnaround and operational continuity.
The move will also enable the business to offer a more robust manufacturing capacity, based around the capabilities of its dual sites, an important capability for business continuity planning.
Guy Matthews, market development manager at Parker domnick hunter, said: “The manufacture of manifolds at our Birtley site is an important step for Parker domnick hunter, allowing us to provide an even better service to our European customer base, with our specialist manifold design, testing and production capabilities brought much closer to our clients’ operations.
“Biopharmaceutical manufacturers design processing systems which incorporate specific, customized manifolds, so it is important that they are able to be supplied with products rapidly, and have confidence in their own ability to access products when they need them. We believe that by manufacturing manifolds in Birtley, we will be giving our customers both greater flexibility and peace of mind.
“Our investment in Birtley has been made to ensure we continue to play a major role in supporting the biopharmaceutical industry across Europe and the rest of the world, bringing our manufacturing expertise and products to our customers based in Europe and beyond.”
