North East firms partner to ‘join the dots’ between physical and mental health

North East physiotherapy practice Physiotherapy Matters has partnered with Newcastle Premier Health, an independent medical services provider, to develop a joint healthcare model.

The two firms will work in unison to improve the physical and mental wellbeing of staff, working with clients’ HR departments to offer health teams comprising of a nurse, doctor and physiotherapist.

By working in partnership and ensuring effective close communication between the team and a company’s managers, the ‘joined-up’ approach aims to shorten absence times, allow staff with long term problems to remain in productive employment and help to prevent employees from developing health problems that may lead to absence from work.

Nick Livadas, clinical manager at Physiotherapy Matters, said: “By working hand in hand with Newcastle Premier Health, we can offer our clients a holistic health services package that helps to ‘join the dots’ between physical and mental health, and which gives employees access to a wide range of services either on-site at their place of work, or at one of our clinics.

“Often one ailment may have its origin in an underlying problem and by combining our expertise and working with managers, we can help to address health issues before they start to seriously affect an individual’s wellbeing.”
