Barnes Logistics acquires 50,000 sq ft Rochdale facility with seven-figure funding

Barnes Logistics is planning to invest in staff and drive sales after moving to new premises in Greater Manchester.

The logistics and storage firm has relocated from its leased site in Oldham after acquiring a 50,000 sq ft facility in Rochdale with seven-figure funding from Yorkshire Bank.

The deal for the support package was arranged by Helen Miller, a relationship manager at Yorkshire Bank’s office in Manchester.

Barnes Logistics’s owner and managing director, Chris Barnes, said: “The Rochdale site is a far superior building in a much better location, allowing us to streamline our operations.

“Purchasing the premises has given us greater flexibility and the funding provided by Yorkshire Bank means we have been able to continue focusing on growth during the move. I’ve been a customer of Yorkshire Bank since 2009 and the team has always been great to work with.”

He added: “Over the next year we plan to keep increasing sales by continuing to provide an extremely high standard of service and investing further in our workforce.”

Barnes, which provides logistical and warehousing services for industries such as textile, food manufacturing and automotive, was founded in 2004 and operates a fleet of over 50 vehicles from depots across the UK.

Today, the company employs a team of 80 staff.

The head of commercial, small business and private banking for Manchester and Bolton at Yorkshire Bank, Paul Grace, commented: “Over the last 12 years, Barnes Logistics has grown to become a leading supplier for time-critical firms due to the business’ knowledgeable management team and commitment to investing.

“We are proud to have helped the firm purchase its own premises through our SME lending initiatives and will continue to support Chris in reaching the business’ future goals.”
