North Yorkshire restaurant to become boutique hotel with £1m investment
The new owners of a restaurant in North Yorkshire are investing an additional £1m to transform the site into a boutique hotel.
Leisure operator Provenance Inns and Hotels Group acquired the Cleveland Tontine last month and is now preparing to give the inn an extensive makeover.
Located in Staddlebridge between Stokesley and Northallerton, the Tontine already has seven newly refurbished bedrooms, but Provenance Inns plans to expand its offer by turning a listed former coachhouse on the site into additional guest rooms.
The Tontine was Provenance Inns’ ninth acquisition, added to a hospitality portfolio that includes the West Park Hotel in Harrogate, the Black Bull at Moulton and the Carpenters Arms at Felixkirk.
The company’s director, Michael Ibbotson, said: “The condition of the coachhouse has deteriorated over time and we felt that it provided a great opportunity to achieve two goals: to restore it and to be able to offer more rooms for our guests at this unique location on the edge of the North York Moors.”
