Stagecoach unveils new MD for North East bus operations
Bus operator Stagecoach has appointed Steve Walker as its new Managing Director of bus operations in the North East, replacing Phil Medlicott.
The current Stagecoach Managing Director for North Scotland , Steve will assume his new role from 12 September 2016.
In the interim period, the business will continue to be managed by Clare Kavanagh, Strategy Director, Stagecoach UK Bus.
Stagecoach North East is one of Stagecoach’s biggest regional bus companies with some of the highest levels of passenger satisfaction in the country.
The business operates local bus services in Newcastle, South Shields, Sunderland, Hartlepool and Teesside. The company, which has more than 1,500 employees, runs around 470 buses and carries 63 million passengers a year.
Steve Walker worked in the bus industry in Manchester before joining Stagecoach East Scotland in 2001. He took on the role of Managing Director, Stagecoach Highlands in June 2010 and was appointed Managing Director of Stagecoach North Scotland in May 2013.
