ARC Window Films, Win Manchester University Contract.

WIGAN company ARC Window Films have won a competitive tender to carry out specialist glazing upgrades at historical Manchester University.

The business, based in Hindley Green, will supply and install a specialist anti shatter window film to around 4,000m2 of glazing in over 30 buildings across the University’s North and East campuses.

The work is expected to last five weeks and will take place during the summer holidays when the buildings are no longer in full time use.

ARC Window Films Project Manager, Neil Brabbs, said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen to carry out this work.

“We will be working in multiple old and new buildings installing a clear 100 micron anti shatter window film to existing glazing in order to help the university meet the current health and safety standards for glazing in the workplace.”

The company will also be adding manifestation graphics to glass in public areas to increase visibility and alert people to its presence.

ARC carried out a similar project at Anglia Ruskin University last year, across their three campuses of Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough.

Neil added: “We have a great deal of experience undertaking Regulation 14 Glazing Compliance works for both the public and private sectors”

“Legislation for glazing is changing all the time and our anti shatter window films are a quick and simple way of ensuring compliance and are a much more cost-effective option than re-glazing.”

ARC will be carrying out the work for building contractors MBC Building Contractors NW and Cruden Construction Limited.

MBC Project Manager Tom Bunting, said: “We are very pleased to be working with ARC on this project, it’s a project which demands a high level of skill and experience and ARC tick all the boxes.”
