Equilibrium reaches £100,000 fundraising landmark

Equilibrium Asset Management has raised a landmark £100,000 for charitable causes through its foundation.

Launched by the company in 2010, the Equilibrium Foundation distributes funds to causes nominated by the team and clients, as well as inviting community schemes to apply for grants.

The firm is currently embarking on a further programme of fundraising events to celebrate its 21st birthday with ‘21 days of giving’, an initiative that aims to raise £21,000 for charities this year to make a positive difference to the community.

Debbie Jukes, partner at Equilibrium and trustee of the charity, says there are bold aims to expand the breadth and scale of the foundation’s work and donate £250,000 to worthy causes by 2020.

“When I joined Equilibrium 15 years ago, it quickly became clear that this was a financial services business with a difference. This all stems from values of family, sharing and giving back that have been deeply instilled and long-upheld by our founder and partner Colin Lawson – who has worked tirelessly to create this culture.

“Since the Equilibrium Foundation was set up, it has been a real asset not just to our local communities, but the business itself. It has pulled the team together, seen us work closely with clients to raise funds for causes close to their hearts – but most importantly it has provided vital funding to some fantastic causes that help those in need.”

Beneficiaries of the Equilibrium Foundation range from national charities such as Cancer Research UK and The Alzheimer’s Society to community schemes near its Cheshire offices.

Founded in the back bedroom of founder and partner Colin Lawson, Equilibrium was named ‘Adviser Firm of The Year’ at the Money Marketing awards 2016 and ‘Northern England Firm of The Year’ at the New Model Adviser Awards 2016 and currently manages more than £515 million of assets for over 800 families.

Colin Lawson adds: “One of the things that I’m most proud of in my career is the fact that I’ve managed to channel the network and resources of Equilibrium into a foundation that enables us to give back to those in need. Beyond this, we have been lucky enough to employ a quality team, which volunteers its own time to raise funds.

“I can hardly believe that the foundation has been up and running for 6 years and it is fantastic that we’ve raised £100,000 for worthy causes. With 2016 being our 21st year in business, it seemed fitting that we use the landmark to ramp up our efforts and raise even more funds.

“As such we are taking part in a series of at least 21 events, including a London to Amsterdam cycle challenge, participation in the Manchester 5K Colour Run and many more initiatives - all aimed at raising £21,000 for charitable causes.

“Moving forwards, we want to extend our support network to help more and more organisations and individuals, so we are urging anybody who is in a position to help to make a donation to the Equilibrium Foundation.”
