Warrington-headquartered postal firm achieves £124m turnover
The Delivery Group has reported double-figure turnover growth for the year ending December 31 2015.
The North West-headquartered post and parcel operator’s turnover leapt by 55%, hitting £124m by the close of last year.
The Delivery Group was established in March 2015 by combining the operations of e-commerce firm Secured Mail Express Ltd and managed mail services provider CMS Network (London) Ltd – a move that broadened the group’s services portfolio and accelerated contract wins.
Today, The Delivery Group employs over 350 staff across sites in Warrington, London and Luton.
Chairman Paul Carvell said of the results: “2015 was a very successful year for the group and on the strength of the growth and opportunities in the group’s core markets, we have increased our sales and account management teams in order to continue our growth into 2016.
“The group is continuing its investment in market leading technology and operational infrastructure such as new mail sortation technology for managed mail solutions and the business is already committed to cross-border international mail in 2016.”
Secured Mail CEO Mark Bigley, who is also a director of The Delivery Group, said the company saw “huge growth” in its e-commerce and international operations, adding: “Our continued investment in automation and cloud technology has created a big uplift in sales.”
Mark continued: “In particular our investment in tailor-made barcode technology has paid dividends. Our cloud software technology, Vision, is a revolution in the industry which allows businesses to utilise their own unique barcodes to track through Secured Mail’s delivery network.
According to Mark, the software enables Secured Mail “to speed up the process of delivery, enhance tracking and reduce costs”, stimulating new business growth.
CMS Network CEO and group director Steve Stokes commented: “With the combined forces of CMS and Secured Mail as The Delivery Group and our new investments in market leading automation and staff, we are expecting 2016 to be the greatest year yet for new business growth and product development.”
“Joining The Delivery Group has proved to be a real success for CMS and all its dedicated employees. We have launched new products, invested in market leading technology, expanded the team and provided existing customers with new services further improving the already compelling cost savings that we provide them.”
Looking ahead, chairman Paul Carvell said The Delivery Group’s expansion strategy in 2016 will see it “remaining active” in considering new strategic acquisitions.
