70 jobs saved as global manufacturer acquires Salford-based Harland Machine Systems
Manufacturer Accraply Europe Limited has acquired the trade and assets of Harland Machine Systems Limited, safeguarding the jobs of the Salford firm’s 70 employees.
Accraply, part of international manufacturing group Barry Wehmiller, signed the deal with Harland’s administrators at FRP Advisory LLP, the Manchester-based business services firm.
FRP partners Russell Cash and Rajnesh Mittal were named joint administrators for the labelling machine manufacturer on July 26 and secured the sale soon after their appointment.
Harland posted a turnover of £12m in its most recent accounts, but faced difficulties that placed an unsustainable pressure on its cash flow.
Russell said: “We’re delighted to have secured the future of this key North West manufacturing business, preserving jobs and providing a continuity of supply for its loyal customer base.
“We wish Accraply and everyone involved in it every success for the future.”
Accraply president Seamus Lafferty commented: “We are delighted that we have acquired such a great brand with an impressive history and are confident we can support its future development.
“This acquisition supports our long term strategy of developing and expanding our presence in Europe.”
Operating from a plant on Michigan Avenue, Harland manufactures labelling equipment for use on high-volume production lines, with a customer base spanning the pharmaceuticals, hygiene and food sectors.
