Girlguiding get donation from Yorkshire builder
Girlguiding in Easingwold has received a fundraising boost, thanks to a donation from a leading regional housebuilder.
Easingwold District Girlguiding was named a ‘Community Champion’ by Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, who award the group £500 to help fund future activities.
More than 200 girls across 11 units consisting of Rainbows, Brownies and Guides are set to benefit for the donation as district commissioner, Belinda Channing, explained.
She said: “Easingwold District Guide Association would like to say a big thank you to Persimmon Homes Yorkshire from all the girls and leaders for choosing us as their Community Champion.
“Our organisation gives girls and young women the opportunity to make the most of their potential by learning new skills and building friendships in a fun environment. For more information visit www.girlguiding.org.uk.
“Persimmon’s donation along with our match funding will help ensure that all the girls can take part in our activities, regardless of the circumstances, as well as help fund future events.”
The Community Champions initiative aims to support grassroots activities that improve the quality of life for local people. Groups and charities who have already worked hard to raise money themselves can apply for match-funding of up to £1,000.
Kevin Thubron, sales director at Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, said: “Our Community Champions initiative is a great way to give a much-needed fundraising boost to local organisations and charities whose work benefits the community.
“Following in the success of our ‘The Vale’ development in Easingwold we are delighted to be starting work on a new site named ‘The Weald’, later this year. We will be building 155 new homes so expect some of our new customers will benefit from the amazing work of the Easingwold District Guide Association.”
The Weald will feature a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes as well as a selection of two bedroom bungalows. The development is within walking distance of the town which features a collection of independent shops and restaurants, a selection of highly regarded schools and excellent access to the main commuter roads and rail networks.
Persimmon Homes Yorkshire is currently creating homes in Doncaster, Hull, Scunthorpe, Selby, Hornsea and Sherburn in Elmet.
