JWP Creers runs for ANTRUK in York 10k

A CHARITIES team from JWP Creers really will be running for all when they take part in the York 10K Charity Race on August 7th.

A 12-strong team from the North Yorkshire accountants and business advisers is running to raise funds for York charity, ANTRUK, an acronym for Antibiotic Research UK, a JWPCreers client and nominated charity for 2016, which supports scientists and clinicians researching the development of new bacteria resistant antibiotics.

The JWP Creers team of specialist accountants who support charities comprises charities, healthcare and medical team partner, Andrew Johnson; charities and not-for-profit manager, Veronica Ridsdale and assistant, Kate Thompson.

Other accountants from the firm taking part are corporate finance team members, Adam Copley, Andrea Whitehead and Nick Barker; audit and accounts team members, Heather Bennett, Francesca Brooks and Matt Clough, tax team member, Laura Train and medical team members, Bryony Penfold and Ryan Taylor.

Veronica Ridsdale says: “We are thrilled to be taking part in the Run for All which is a great event and to be sponsored for ANTRUK, a charity whose work can genuinely help the whole of mankind. We aim to raise as much as possible to help the charity in its mission of antibiotic resistance research, education and patient support. “

ANTRUK chief executive, prof Colin Garner, says: “Antibiotics are becoming less effective every year as more bacteria become resistant and, in time, common surgical procedures such as bowel, heart or hip surgery will become very risky, if not impossible.

“A recent report by treasury minister Lord Jim O’Neill says that, if we do not develop new antibiotics, about 10 million people globally will die every year by 2050. This means we have a 10-15 year window to develop them. ANTRUK needs to raise £50,000 in the next six months to carry out its mission and we are grateful for all the support JWPCreers gives us, most recently by their efforts with the York 10k event.”

The JWPCreers charities team works with several local and national charities providing services including accounts, audits, payroll and taxation advice.

JWPCreers, based at Park Street, Selby and York Science Park, York, is among York and North Yorkshire’s largest firms of accountants, taxation professionals and business advisers with seven partners and more than 70 staff.
