Leisure operator chosen as Holiday Inn construction gets underway at TraffordCity

Leisure operator Tower Hotel Management has secured a contract to run the new Holiday Inn Express at Greater Manchester’s TraffordCity development.

Construction work is underway on the 220-bedroom hotel, which is due to open in Spring 2017 on a 1.75-acre site adjacent to EventCity.

A joint venture comprising investment company Topland Group, Marick Capital and developer Mill Lane Estates is the driving force behind the scheme.

Architects Chapman Taylor designed the hotel, while building firm Bowmer & Kirkland has been appointed as the main contractor. The hotel will be constructed using a modular technique led by modular building firm CIMC MBS.

Peter de la Perrelle, the managing director of Tower Hotel Management, which forms part of investment company Peel Group, said: “Tower Hotel Management is delighted to have been chosen to operate this new hotel.

“In a prime location, Holiday Inn Express TraffordCity is ideally suited to serve the huge numbers of both leisure and business travellers visiting EventCity, intu Trafford Centre and the wider TraffordCity area.”

He continued: “The planned arrival of the TfGM Metrolink line in several years’ time will only increase the hotel’s appeal.

“We’re looking forward to working directly with EventCity to offer streamlined services to visitors, and also with the Topland Group, joint funders of this hotel.”

In addition to its position on the doorstep of intu Trafford Centre and EventCity, Holiday Inn Express TraffordCity is set to benefit from the surrounding 3.5 million sq ft of leisure, retail and commercial space forming the wider TraffordCity development.
