London heritage brand Penhaligon's to open Bluewater outlet

Traditional perfumers Penhaligon’s have announced they are to open their first standalone store in the South East at Bluewater shopping centre.

Due to open in August, the historic London-based brand will take a 253 sq ft boutique which will offer their full range of fragrances and grooming products and joins the firm’s line-up of ten other standalone stores across the UK.

Founded in 1870, the historic brand has a heritage stretching back to the Victorian era and has had its quality recognised by two Royal Warrants, and since then has slowly expanded from its London base to boast outlets in Edinburgh and York.

Commenting on the new store opening, Lance Patterson, who is Chief Executive Officer at the perfumery, described the Kent shopping centre as an ‘obvious choice’ for its new site, owing to its proximity to London and ‘strength of its catchment’.

He added: “In addition, we will be in such good company, surrounded by other great brands. We are thrilled to be opening later this year.”

Russell Loveland, who is co-owner and asset manager of Bluewater as well as Portfolio Manager at Land Securities who own the shopping centre, said: “Penhaligon’s is another distinguished addition to our line-up of premium brands, joining Breitling, Jo Malone and Montblanc in selecting Bluewater for their key store outside the capital.

“Penhaligon’s decision is also testament to Bluewater’s enduring success in terms of consistent sales growth and an unrivalled ability to attract significant volumes of affluent, discerning consumers.”

CBRE and Time Retail Partners acted for Bluewater while Apostle Retail represented Penhaligon’s in the deal.
