TIS Cross The Finish Line With British Gypsum
Nottingham-based TIS took to the saddle after successfully completing a contract to provide security systems to British Gypsum at its Loughborough site in Barrow On Soar, by participating in a 100-mile cycle ride to support The Guide Dogs For The Blind Association.
TIS successfully beat of stiff competition from across the UK to win the contract to design, deliver and install the new fire protection for British Gypsum.
Part of the Saint-Gobain group, British Gypsum is a leading UK manufacturer of interior lining systems for the construction industry. Products range from plaster and plasterboard to other partition and ceiling solutions, which provide comfort, protect against fire and insulate against sound.
The firm went one step beyond expectations as Mark Wilson, head of installations, and Chris Catchpole, project manager, joined a 100 strong cycling team from British Gypsum. The team from TIS were invited to take part in the gruelling 100-mile cycle from Barrow-upon-Soar to Skegness by British Gypsum’s electrical engineer Graham Pell.
Chris Catchpole said, “It was a great opportunity to be a part of the ride and support our new customer. It was a fantastic atmosphere and everyone encouraged one another to keep going – A truly memorable day.”
The event was to raise funds to help support the Guide Dogs For The Blind Association, the ride brought a mixture of weather conditions. However, that didn’t stop participants from reaching the finish line with a ride time of just over six hours.
Head of Installations, Mark Wilson said, “The invitation from British Gypsum to take part in the ride was really appreciated and we were more than willing to take part and add our support through sponsorship.
“It also gave us a great opportunity to meet additional members of the team and help build on our working relationship. Winning the contract was a real coup for TIS and reinforces our experience and expertise in the sector, we go the extra mile (or 100 in this case), as relationships are at the heart of our success.”
TIS not only designed and installed the new state-of-the art fire detection system from market leaders GENT, but also had to ensure the existing older system was still fully operational until the new system was tested and ready to go live.
British Gypsums’ Graham Pell added: “It was great to receive both financial support and participation from one of our local suppliers such as TIS, we really do thank them and appreciate all their support.”
