Arsenal to extend outreach projects in Kenya following SportPesa partnership
Premier League football club Arsenal have announced they are extending their partnership with African betting platform SportPesa.
The firm now becomes Arsenal’s Official Betting Partner in Kenya and will also result in a number of cross-promotional activities on the club’s digital channels and with first-team players.
SportPesa advertising will also be present at Arsenal home games and the North London club’s legion of African fans will benefit from official merchandise and tickets to the Premier League side’s home matches.
Vinai Venkatesham, Arsenal’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “We are delighted to announce the expansion of our association with SportPesa across Africa following a successful first year of partnership in Kenya.
“We look forward to being an important part of how SportPesa’s business will grow across Africa and have a shared commitment to develop structured community football programmes together.”
The deal also sees Arsenal building on some of its outreach and grassroots programmes in Kenya, with a range of five-day training camps involving the club’s coaching staff planned.
At the launch of the partnership, SportPesa Chief Executive Officer Ronald Karauri commented: “Enhancing and expanding our partnership with Arsenal gives us a wonderful opportunity to connect with more people all over Africa, through both our grassroots coaching and also promotional activities with the club and its players.
“Arsenal has a huge presence and support across the continent, and we will use that positively to contribute to the sustainable growth of a number of different sports but mainly football with a shared dream to see Kenya compete in the World Cup for the first time in 2022.”
