New Tottenham Hotspur stadium: Multi-million pound leisure development planned
A new £450m leisure and housing development that is to be appended to Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium is taking shape after Haringey Council announced a preferred list of bidders for the scheme.
The 11 hectare High Road West scheme will link White Hart Lane with the club’s new Northumberland Park stadium with plans including 1,400 new homes, a new park and various community initiatives including a library and park.
According to Construction Enquirer, Haringey Council has now released a shortlist of developers who are in the running to deliver the multi-million pound scheme after launching the selection process on 31 May.
The list includes: LendLease, Barratt Developments, Countryside Properties, Linkcity, Stanhope, and Taylor Wimpey, with a final decision due by mid-2017.
The Arup-designed scheme is part of a package of £1bn improvement works in Tottenham linked to the new 61,000 capacity stadium currently under construction, as the area undergoes significant regeneration.
It is hoped that the public and privately-backed developments in the era will bring 10,000 new homes and 5,000 new jobs to North London by 2025.
Spurs are due to move into their new home by the 2018-19 season.
