Olympic medallist marks opening of new Durham hockey facility
Emily Maguire, a bronze medallist from the London 2012 Olympics and current member of the GB hockey squad, has opened a new field hockey business in Chester-Le-Street, Durham.
The brainchild of Simon Lee of One Hockey and Lynne Dobison, The One Sports Warehouse provides both advice to new hockey players as well as insight into equipment purchases.
Simon has vast experience of the field hockey world and in between coaching in the North East had a role as Performance Analyst to GB Hockey U21 Women’s squad. He is currently Performance Centre Head Coach for England Hockey based at Durham University, whilst Lynne also boasts experience of working with England Hockey.
It’s not only Simon and Lynne’s expertise that will be on offer but Claire Dobison-Lee, herself a coach and current player at Durham University will be on hand to assist the public.
As well as the practice area for the public to try the latest sticks available to the market there is also other field hockey equipment available to test and purchase and can be found at Unit 1F Drum Industrial Estate, Durham DH2 1AG.
Simon Lee said: “We have been looking to provide such a facility so sometime now and are really looking forward to assisting the public in their next field hockey purchase. We were delighted that Emily could open the facility and demonstrate our “try before you buy” area.”
Emily Maguire added: “It’s fantastic that One Sports Warehouse have opened this facility and that its gives the opportunity for the public to receive the correct advice when looking to make their next field hockey purchase.”
