Broad Gate in Leeds city centre.

Leeds city centre’ iconic Broad Gate fully let with LifeSearch deal

The final 10,814 sq ft of space at Broad Gate in Leeds city centre has now been let to LifeSearch, the life-insurance protection intermediary.

LifeSearch has signed a 10-year lease, with a five-year break, paying £25 per sq ft.

The Leeds office of property consultancy Knight Frank brokered this deal on behalf of owners, Northwood Regional UK.

Eamon Fox, partner and head of office agency at Knight Frank, said: “This is a very important deal, bearing in mind the largest letting in the second quarter of this year was 8,000 sq. ft to Addleshaw Goddard at 3 Sovereign Square. It also means that Broad Gate is now fully let once again.”

The 300,000 sq ft flagship mixed-use development comprises four floors of spectacular Grade A office space and a suite of penthouse offices, together with four prime retail units.

Eamon added: “Broad Gate is one of the finest office developments in Yorkshire.

The excellent location, overlooking The Headrow, creates a business destination with all the benefits of the city centre on its doorstep.

“The transformation of this historic building has provided a unique opportunity to take some of the most remarkable space in the city centre.”

Iain Taylor, associate director of Northwood Regional UK, also commented: “We appointed the Leeds office of Knight Frank alongside the Leeds office of Colliers to market the remaining space at Broad Gate because we were very impressed with their enthusiasm and superb track record in the city.

“Their experience and expertise was invaluable, helping us to let the final office space in our flagship building.”

Occupiers in Broad Gate include KPMG, Yorkshire Building Society, Cap Gemini, Colliers, PURE Offices and Ramboll Environ.

Hannah Eborall of LifeSearch said: “LifeSearch asks its people to put their customers first, so it’s right that we should do the same for our team in Leeds.

“They will join their colleagues in Milton Keynes and London in being on the top floor of a superb building and will enjoy being in such an exemplary working environment, with 24/7 security, open plan floor working, Costa coffee shop, showers, lockers & bike storage. We look forward to moving in later this year. It is an exciting move for us as we look to grow our team in Leeds.”

Broad Gate was formerly the home of Lewis’s, the first department store in Leeds, which was built in 1932, and then Allders.

Knight Frank and Colliers are joint letting agents on Broad Gate. Deloitte Real Estate acquired for LifeSearch.
