Building work underway at new Crafter’s Companion store

International craft supplies company, Crafter’s Companion has seen its plans to open a second store in Chesterfield start to take shape, with the building work now underway.

The new store, which will be housed within the Dobbies Chesterfield Garden Centre and Shopping Village, represents a £250K investment from the company and is expected to open to the public on September 23.

Once complete, the 5,500 sq. ft. outlet will include themed shopping areas covering papercraft, arts, sewing, home décor and haberdashery, along with demonstration areas for workshops and group sessions.

The outlet will give both craft enthusiasts and people who are trying the hobby for the first time the opportunity to learn about craft and get to know the brand.

So far 12 new staff members have been recruited as part of the company’s recruitment drive to help with the store preparations.

Sara Davies, founder of Crafter’s Companion, said, “We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with Dobbies, as it’s a great brand that is popular with customers that are very similar to our own.

“Taking on a new store so soon after opening our outlet in Newton Aycliffe was a big decision, so it’s great to see those plans start to come to life.

“As with our first store, we wanted to create an outlet where our customers could come and see the products, develop their interest in crafting and get to know our brand. Dobbies already attracts customer from all over the region and we’re hoping our store will help to bring people from even further afield.”

The new store at Dobbies Chesterfield will join several other brands such as Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Holland and Barrett, Lakeland, Pets at Home and Cotton Traders, as well as an extensive garden centre, farm shop, food hall and a restaurant.

Crafter’s Companion specialises in manufacturing and distributing crafting tools and products, which are currently sold online via its website, on TV shopping channels across the world, by independent retailers and in its flagship store.
