Seven new recruits, CBRE

Real estate services firm CBRE has announced a series of appointments within its North West-based building consultancy team.

The company has added seven new recruits to the team, taking the total number of staff employed across its Manchester and Liverpool offices to 28.

Kevin Jackson is CBRE’s new project manager at associate director level, joining the firm from surveyor Turner & Townsend, while Thomas Roberts has joined from consultants Cushman & Wakefield in the role of associate director.

Elsewhere, Andy Flanagan has joined CBRE at associate director level. Prior to his appointment, Andy ran his own fit-out contracting business.

CBRE has also taken on James Clarkson, who previously worked for professional services firm Capita, as an engineer at associate director level, and Alex O’Donnell as a senior quantity surveyor. Alex formerly worked for a contracting business.

The other two new recruits, James Underhill and Tom Dutton, have been hired as building surveying graduates.

Clare Miller and Cheryl Clarke, Paul Crowley & Co

Liverpool law firm Paul Crowley & Co has welcomed two new faces to its property law department.

The company has appointed Cheryl Clarke as trainee legal executive and Clare Miller as trainee conveyancer.

Cheryl and Clare, who both specialise in residential conveyancing, will collectively add 12 years of experience to the team.

At present, Cheryl is studying with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives to become a legal executive.

Clare, meanwhile, is pursuing a Council for Licensed Conveyancers qualification to become a licensed conveyancer.

Mark Sharples, Macclesfield College

Macclesfield College has announced the appointment of a new chair of governors to its board.

Mark Sharples has taken up the post following two years on the college’s board of governors, during which time he worked on the board’s audit committee and served as the link governor for hospitality and catering.

Prior to joining the board, Mark worked for 32 years as an officer within Cheshire Police and ran his own Manchester-based domestic and industrial landscaping business. Today, Mark runs the Macclesfield-based Five Clouds bar and brewery.

Discussing his appointment, he said: “The board and leadership team at Macclesfield College have a shared vision based around an absolute commitment to educational excellence.

“I am delighted to be taking on a role which will not only guarantee that our strategic vision is met, but will also ensure the college remains at the centre of the community providing fantastic opportunities in workplace learning, within an inspirational, modern and safe environment.”

Macclesfield College’s chief executive and principal, Rachel Kay, commented: “Mark’s experience and achievements, especially in working with young people, can be clearly seen in his passion and dedication to the college, and his appointment to chair of governors was an obvious choice.

“Like many education providers we have faced challenges in the last 12 months, but with a strong board in place, we are continuously implementing positive changes in the quality of teaching, learning and outcomes for our learners, and we look forward to Mark being a part of that.”

Bradley Agnew, Just PR & Marketing

Manchester-based consultancy Just PR & Marketing has appointed Bradley Agnew as its new head of digital.

Before joining the company, Bradley worked as the head of sales and marketing at a cost management consulting firm.

Having formed his first enterprise at the age of 14, Bradley has since gone on to work with a number of international brands, including electronics firm Sony and entertainment giant Disney.

Bradley said: “I look forward to working closely with Justine as we continue to grow and further raise our profile in the North West and across the UK. Justine has earned an enviable reputation for her track record in PR, and together we aim to provide a cutting-edge digital service to match.”

Just PR & Marketing was founded in 2008 by Justine McGuinn.
