Billingham's Biochemica to invest in new tech following £20k grant

Billingham-based water treatment firm Biochemica has secured a £20k funding package to invest in new technology.

Receiving the grant from The Capital Grant Scheme, operated by Tees Valley Business Compass, the company will be able to lead more efficient processes.

David Ruddy, Managing Director of Biochemica, said: “The Capital Grant Scheme has enabled Biochemica to invest in new machinery allowing us to have a more competitive presence within the process sector in the global market.We have created new jobs and safeguarded several existing ones helping to support, sustain and grow the local economy here in Tees Valley.

“The grant has also helped Biochemica to address the skills gap in the region which has been reported on previously by regional bodies such as the North East Chamber of Commerce and the North East of England Process Industry Cluster.

“The funding from Tees Valley Business Compass has led to a number of new growth opportunities for us and I would highly recommend it to other businesses.”

Paul Booth, Chair of Tees Valley Unlimited and Member of Tees Valley Combined Authority, added: “Biochemica and a number of other businesses in Tees Valley have benefitted from the business support schemes, helping the local economy to grow and create more employment opportunities.
