North Tyneside entrepreneur diversifies with new Whitley Bay business launch
Tyne and Wear entrepreneur Parmjit Purba has announced the launch of his second business with funding from Barclays.
Parmjit Purba and Harvinder Purba have together run a local convenience store called Priceryte for over 30 years in Backworth, North Tyneside and decided the time was right to diversify and launch a second business.
The new business is a letting and estate agent business called Martin and Co which is based on Park View, Whitley Bay. Martin and Co is the largest national letting agent franchisor and the launch of the business is a long held ambition for Parmjit.
Parmjit Purba, Director, owner of Martin and Co in Whitley Bay, said: “The last year has been so exciting in fulfilling our dream of buying a second business.
“Services include landlord management, rental opportunities, selling properties and sourcing student properties.
“Barclays has provided fantastic support with a commercial mortgage and we’re confident we can provide invaluable service to the local community.”
Martin and Co will initially employ three staff from the local area.
Stewart Blackett, Business Banking Manager at Barclays put together the funding package for the deal and said: “It’s great to support a local business. Parmjit has certainly got the ambition and local knowledge to take the business forward and as loyal Barclays customers that have banked with us for over 30 years it was great that we could support Parmjit’s new venture.”
