War Child receives £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes

War Child receives £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes International charity War Child has been awarded £1,000 as part of the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme. Persimmon Homes Severn Valley donated the cash after it was nominated by Somerset based property development company Hawkfield Homes.

War Child is the only specialist charity devoted to children affected by conflict. In 2015 the organisation supported more than 125,000 boys and girls around the world, including in Uganda, Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, Jordan and Iraq.

It provides education, counselling, child friendly spaces and other services to children whose lives have been destroyed by war.

Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme supports good causes, charities and clubs by providing £2,000 for each region to give away for a positive outcome. James Kilmartin, Chairman at Hawkfield Homes, said: “We have been working alongside Persimmon Homes at their development at Stockmoor Village in Bridgwater and heard about the Community Champions scheme.

“We recommended a donation was made to the cause and we’re delighted such a worth charity will benefit from £1,000.”

Rob Williams, CEO of War Child UK, said: “War Child works with some of the world’s most vulnerable children – boys and girls whose lives have been destroyed by conflict. We want to thank Persimmon Homes for their generous contribution, which will go a long way to supporting these children and helping them rebuild their lives.”

Nicola Hill, sales and marketing director of Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, added: “War Child does incredible work to help those in some of the most dangerous parts of our world.

“It was a great gesture from Hawkfield Homes and we were only too happy to contribute to the cause.”
