Yorkshire Garden Festival gets ready to celebrate winners!

The Yorkshire Garden Festival will see what’s been a ‘blooming’ fantastic summer of fun culminate in its first awards ceremony on August 20th.

The brainchild of Ian and Martine Asbridge of the Heritage Landscape and Garden Centre, the festival has seen outstanding entries from both local schools and community projects, based on the theme of “Nature’s Finest”.

Since opening its doors to the public at the start of the summer, visitors have had the opportunity to indulge in the fantastic creations hosted by the garden centre at Melton, outside Hull.

But every competition must have a winner and that winner be announced at the inaugural dinner of The People’s Awards 2016, where judges and entrants will be treated to a fabulous dinner before the winning garden, as voted by the public, is revealed.

Such was the success of this first year its organisers are already planning next year’s theme and have already had interest from schools and community initiative all wanting to get their names down for 2017!

Ian Ashbridge, Yorkshire Festival’s creative director, is delighted with how the festival has gone:

“We knew that we were surrounded by stunning scenery and landscapes but I underestimated just how much ability and talent there is locally.

“We have exceeded all expectations and can’t wait to congratulate all who’ve taken part on August 20th.”

If you haven’t been down yet, the festival is running until the end of the summer with lots of events planned to bring out the best of Yorkshire.

The Heritage Landscape and Garden Centre is open Monday – Saturday 8am to 4.30pm. Sunday 11.00am to 5.00pm.
