Engineering services firm Booth Welsh to create 10 jobs at Sci-Tech Daresbury

International integrated engineering services company Booth Welsh is expanding into the North West with a regional office at Sci-Tech Daresbury, creating up to 10 new jobs.

Booth Welsh, which is part of the Australia-headquartered Clough group of businesses, plans to use the Cheshire-based science and innovation campus as a springboard for achieving national and international growth.

The company will take 500 sq ft of space at the campus’ Innovation Centre.

Founded in 1989, Booth Welsh employs over 250 technical personnel and joined Clough in September 2014.

The firm’s managing director, Martin Welsh, said: “As Clough’s Centre of Excellence for Electrical, Control & Instrumentation and Europe & Middle East (EME) regional business, the opening of this office will allow us to accelerate our strategic growth plans both here in the UK and overseas.

“Crucially it gives us greater proximity to our clients and partners in the North West of England and will act as a critical springboard to strengthen these relationships and attract prospective clients.”

He added: “We conduct a lot of business in industry areas located within the North West of England so this has been a key consideration to taking the step to open a regional office here and realising our ambition for the company going forward.”

Speaking further, Martin said Booth Welsh chose Sci-Tech Daresbury for its North West operations because “technology and innovation are inextricably linked” with the company’s growth.

He continued: “Not only will we have access to ultra-modern facilities within a well-established engineering community, but also the campus itself enjoys access to national and international transport links and a large talent pool and as our business grows we anticipate creating more high value new jobs.”

Sci-Tech Daresbury, which has Enterprise Zone status, represents a private-public joint-venture partnership between the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), Halton Borough Council and developer Langtree.

Langtree’s group property director, Jayne Furnival, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Booth Welsh to Sci-Tech Daresbury and are confident that they will find that it is the perfect environment in which they can meet their business ambitions.

“It’s a great time for Booth Welsh to be opening at Sci-Tech Daresbury as plans to expand the campus gather pace.”
