Patisserie-style eatery Wake & Cate opens in Liverpool

A European café and cake house has opened in Liverpool city centre.

Wake & Cate, a patisserie-style eatery, launched after its owners secured a 4,000 sq ft unit near Williamson square and invested £400k in bringing the concept to life.

The store, located at 13-17 Tarleton Street, was previously occupied by law firm Paul Rooney solicitors.

Taking inspiration from the upmarket delicatessens of city districts across Europe, the patisserie offers French- and Italian-style gateaux, Anatolian tray bakes, homemade macaroons and a variety of other sweet treats.

Traditional hot savoury filo pastries, deli sandwiches and paninis are also available at Wake & Cate.

The company’s director, George Dadoudis, said: “We spent a couple of years researching different locations including London, Birmingham and Manchester. However, Liverpool really struck us.

“We were very impressed with its favourable commercial conditions, friendly people and its track record in welcoming new food concepts.”

He added: “So much so that we have invested over £400K in this venture, a venture which we are very passionate about and we are sure will be embraced by the local community.”

Commercial property agency Hitchcock Wright & Partners worked on behalf of the café’s owners to secure the Tarleton Street unit.

Sean Collins-Jones of Hitchcock Wright & Partners commented: “Wake & Cate’s new European café and cake house is a new and exciting addition to the city’s thriving food and drink offering.

“With the revamp of St John’s close by, the eatery will certainly add to the regeneration and commercial attraction of the area.”
