Free training for struggling small charities in Nottingham
The Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI), a provider of free training for small charities is coming to The Albert Hall Conference Centre, North Circus Street to help support Nottingham’s small charities who need support to remain a float.
Research by The FSI has shown small charities in Nottingham are feeling the crunch of government spending cuts with 7 per cent reporting a decrease in funding whilst 53 per cent seeing demand for their services increasing in the same time period.
The FSI is coming to Nottingham to help small charities, for free, develop their skills to tackle the rising demand and lack of funding.
Nottingham based charity who has reaped the benefits of this free training before is We R Here based in Arnot Hill Park.
We R Here support Nottingham’s young people and their families who have experienced traumatic life events. The small charity was set up in 2011 to fill a gap in caused by service cuts to support young people who had experienced trauma, which later expanded to include their whole family.
Colleen Ewart, Trustee and Secretary at We R Here commented: “Our monetary turnover is down on the previous year whilst demand for our services has increased substantially. We are seeing clients by simply surviving on grants and donations and have an increasing wait list.
Our training with the FSI has helped us to develop and then refine a monitoring system that previously did not exist. We are now building data which we hope will secure meaningful funding for our future.“
Pauline Broomhead, CEO of The FSI commented: “Our research over the last 36 months shows small charities have seen a decline in funding and an increase in demand for services.
“We are coming to Nottingham to help arm small charities with the resources they need to remain open and thrive. It is more important than ever to show our support to small and local charities who deliver services to those most in need.”
The training will take place in The Albert Hall Conference Centre, North Circus Street and the free courses include fundraising to project management. To sign up for free, see here: http://www.thefsi.org/services/training/nottingham/
