Silverstone leads six-figure Newcastle city centre office refurbishment
Newcastle city centre office building West One, located near the Stephenson Quarter, is undergoing a six-figure refurbishment in a bid to attract new tenants.
Silverstone Building Consultancy is managing the refurbishment project anticipated to span 8 weeks, working in conjunction with Asset Managers, Citivale.
Newcastle-based Silverstone, which previously negotiated two dilapidations claims with outgoing tenants, will be refurbishing the 5th and 7th floors to Grade A specification, along with the common areas of the building.
Phil Bone, building surveyor at Silverstone Building Consultancy said: “West One provides high quality office accommodation with the benefit of air conditioning, raised floors and secure car parking.
“By investing in the refurbishment of the vacant office suites and common areas the owners are bringing the space back up to modern Grade A standards ready to be marketed.”
The nine-storey building, which was developed in 2008, comprises over 11,000sqft of office accommodation spread over four floors, the remaining floors offer secure car parking space. Existing occupiers include IP Group Plc, Hempsons law firm and Performance Horizon.
Appointed agent on the scheme, Tony Wordsworth of GVA said: “West One offers a high profile business address close to the new Crown Plaza and the highly successful Stephenson’s Quarter.
“The surrounding areas have seen significant investment and improvement since the property was developed in 2008 and this is now proving to be a popular office location with its close proximity to Newcastle Central Station. We anticipate high levels of interest in the refurbished office space upon completion.”
