Plans submitted for 37-storey London city tower
A planning application has been submitted for a new 37-floor tower at 1 Leadenhall in the City of London.
Work on the new tower, which will stand at 183 metres tall, could begin as early as June 2018 if Brooks Property Partners’ plans are approved.
Architecture practise Make designed the tower which will be slightly taller than the Gherkin and is located in the capital’s growing ‘Eastern Cluster’ of tall buildings.
The seven-storey building that currently sits on the 1 Leadenhall site, known as Leadenhall Court, is set to be demolished over six months once approval is given.
As well as featuring a public galley with views over Leadenhall Market, the tower will comprise 50,000sq m of office space, 4,700sq m of retail on the first three floors, and a 900sq m public terrace with a winter garden.
Ken Shuttleworth is the design lead of the 65,000sqm project.
