Preston-based Eric Wright completes £12.7m York student scheme
Eric Wright Construction has rounded off work on a £12.7m student accommodation project in York.
The Preston-headquartered building firm delivered the 18-month project for developer McLaren Property.
The scheme, which will serve the University of York, the University of York St John and a local teaching hospital, comprises 326 bedrooms across two four-storey blocks.
Studio flats and shared kitchens at the development are accompanied by student and administration facilities, parking spaces, bicycle storage and landscaped gardens.
Eric Wright Construction operations manager John Hartnett said: “This high quality student accommodation is designed to help meet York’s growing student housing requirements.
“We are delighted to have collaborated on this project with high-profile partners and to enhance our portfolio of successful student accommodation in the region.”
Jez Conen, McLaren Property’s senior development manager, commented: “The development has been designed and built to a very high standard.
“The team at Eric Wright have been a pleasure to work with and we are delighted with the product.”
Leeds-based architecture practice DLA provided designs for the project.
