Work begins on £5.45m Sheffield student accommodation site on Trippet Lane
A new student accommodation scheme in Sheffield city centre has begun to take shape after work on the £5.45m scheme got underway last week.
Planning permission for the project, which is being developed by KMRE Group, was obtained earlier this month and will see the construction of a new 63-bed site with communal facilities as student developments continue to spring up around the city.
Once completed, the new accommodation will form part of Empiric Student Property’s UK-wide network of student sites after the student accommodation group agreed a forward funded contract with KMRE.
Managing Director, KMRE, Kam Mogul, said: “The student accommodation sector in Sheffield has remained buoyant, particularly in prime locations within the City.
“There have been numerous challenges to overcome but we are delighted to have our chosen contractor start on site having now completed the demolition and extensive archaeological program in conjunction with Sheffield City Council.”
The scheme is due to be completed by July 2017 in time for the 2017/18 academic year.
