Labour MP Hilary Benn visits John Lewis' flagship store at Leeds' £165m Victoria Gate scheme
Leeds Central MP, Hilary Benn, visited the new John Lewis shop on Thursday (August 2nd), for a tour of what will become one of the retailer’s biggest shops outside of London.
John Lewis Leeds will anchor Hammerson’s Victoria Gate development when it opens on Thursday 20th October, and will offer 255,000 sq ft of shopping space.
Commenting on the shop, Hilary Benn, said : “I greatly enjoyed my visit. John Lewis will be a terrific addition to the city, and everyone is looking forward to the opening in October.
“As ever, it is the people who make a business and the staff of John Lewis are very impressive.”
James Prince, head of branch at John Lewis Leeds, added: “It was great to be able to show Hilary around the new shop this morning, which is changing week on week as we gear up to launch in seven weeks’ time.
“We’re confident the £37m investment will secure Leeds’ offering as the ultimate leisure and retail destination of the north, and can’t wait to welcome Leeds shoppers on 20th October.”
