Awards bonanza for Coda Studios design projects

AWARD winning Sheffield multi-disciplinary practice Coda Studios has seen five of its city projects nominated for the people’s choice prize in the Sheffield Design Awards 2016.

Two of Coda’s commercial projects - the Howco oil and gas site in Attercliffe and the showroom of city kitchen specialists My Father’s Heart - have been nominated alongside three residential projects at Carterknowle, Riverdale and Storth Hollow.

The biennial Sheffield Design Awards celebrate design excellence in architecture and the built environment in and around Sheffield.

This year the Design Awards have united with Sheffield Design Week to form a key event as part of the week of celebration of design excellence across the city region.

The Design Awards ceremony will take place on October 26 in the Head Post Office building in Fitzalan Square, the new home of the Sheffield Institute of Arts at Sheffield Hallam University.

“To have five nominations in the people’s choice section of the awards is an extraordinary achievement and one of which we are already extremely proud,” said Coda Managing Director David Cross.

“What makes it even more special is that our Carterknowle site has also been nominated as best housing/residential development.”

At the same, Coda’s eagerly anticipated Krynkl project at Shalesmoor has been nominated in three categories of the prestigious Celebrating Construction in South Yorkshire Awards before the site is even completed.

“Considering that we are still only nearing completion of the first Krynkl site, to be nominated for awards is in excess of anything we could have hoped for,” said David.

These are all projects of which we are incredibly proud at Coda because they are schemes that are changing the face of the city and establishing Sheffield as a centre for architectural design excellence.“
