Builders raise funds for local charity
A recent charity golf day organised by local building company Emanuel Whittaker Ltd raised over £3,000 for a new charity, the Saddleworth Sports, Youth & Community Association (SSYCA).
Emanuel Whittaker Facilities Manager Phil Peacock organised the day. “We would like to pass on our huge thanks to everyone who supported this event, especially our sponsors who were predominantly subcontractors and suppliers from Oldham and the surrounding area,” he said.
Funding provision of a youth and community facility in Greenfield had been withdrawn by the Council and so local volunteers have stepped in to create the charity and help transform a centre near Churchill Playing Fields into a vibrant community hub with a focus on young people.
Eighty players joined in the fun at Saddleworth Golf Club and the day was won by Tiles UK.
Phil added: “Both players and sponsors have been incredibly generous with their time and money. They even found extra cash to add to the evening raffle and we are all really pleased to be helping Oldham youngsters enjoy recreation in a safe environment.”
The Emanuel Whittaker Golf Day was first held in 2012 as part of the company’s 175 anniversary year celebrations. It was so successful the company have made it an annual event and if you are interested in supporting the event in 2017 get in touch @emanuel_whittak
