PwC's North East division praised as revenues hit record £3.44bn

Accountancy group PwC has reported a second consecutive year of double digit revenue growth, with the firm’s North East division praised for its capabilities in Cyber and Digital services.

Revenues grew to a record £3.44bn for the year ended 30 June 2016, up 11% from last year’s £3.08bn.

All of PwC’s core businesses – assurance, tax, deals and consulting – delivered good growth, with assurance and consulting recording double digit increases.

Bill MacLeod, PwC’s office senior partner in Newcastle, commented on the region’s contributing role in supplying cyber security, data analytics and technology expertise.

Bill said: “I’m delighted with the growth that PwC has achieved during the year.

“The national picture is also reflected locally in the North East with ongoing strong demand for Cyber and Digital capability and wins across all parts of our business.

“The longer term effects of leaving the EU are still unclear and we have the added local complication of uncertainty about devolution.

“However, businesses I speak to are generally optimistic and determined to focus on opportunities presented by a changing environment.

“I am confident that North East businesses will successfully address these challenges and that PwC will be there to support them through their journey.”

He added: “I am also pleased that PwC has continued to recruit in the North East and we that we continue to take on high numbers of graduates and apprentices in our Newcastle office.”
