Nelson-based Weighing Scales to double workforce by 2019
Weighing equipment firm Weighing Scales plans to double its employee count over the next three years to accommodate its expanding services.
With support from Boost Business Lancashire’s Growth Mentoring programme, the Nelson-based company will create six new jobs by 2019.
Weighing Scales, which was founded 10 years ago by directors Janet Marsden and John Gannon, received help from Boost last year, putting the firm on track for 20% annual revenue growth for the next three years.
Since then, business mentor has Paul Aisthorpe worked with Weighing Scales on formulating specific goals surrounding its sales strategy, management, development and the improvement of HR policies.
The company is confident the support has resulted in improved motivation and a stronger, more sales-focused team.
Co-founder Janet said: “Boost Business Lancashire has delivered a fantastic business growth service to Weighing Scales Ltd. The support has been flexible and focuses on our business needs.
“In a fast changing business environment the service has delivered the right support at the right time and does not tangle you up in bureaucratic red tape.”
She added: “I would not hesitate to recommend Boost Business support services to other businesses eager for growth and expansion.”
Boost, Lancashire’s Business Growth Hub, is led by the Lancashire LEP and county council, with funding support from the European Regional Development Fund.
Jaydee Davis, operations manager at Community and Business Partners, which delivers the Growth Mentoring programme, said: “Working with Weighing Scales and witnessing their continued success is rewarding for everyone involved.
“The considerable focus and emphasis on strategic goals during this phase of the support will contribute towards the business’s future success.”
