Fairway Foodservice appoints Troy Mckee to develop its ambient offering

Fairway Foodservice has made a new addition to its management team as it seeks to strengthen its ambient offering.

Troy Mckee joins the 17-member buying group as purchasing manager for grocery, and brings more than 30 years’ experience to the role.

His appointment adds to the buying team working under director Steve Jeavons.

The move also sees Troy come full circle, with Fairway’s Huddersfield offices a stone’s throw from where his purchasing career began three decades ago at Batley’s PLC.

He has also held senior buying roles at Country Range Group and The Today’s Group.

Troy said: “I’m thrilled to have joined the Fairway team and can’t wait to get stuck into the role.

“I love a challenge and look forward to helping Fairway meet its ambitious plans for growth.

“One of the reasons for joining the company was its team members. They are a brilliant bunch and I know we can achieve success together.”

Chris Binge, Fairway Foodservice chief executive, said: “We’re pleased to welcome Troy to the team, who has a wealth of experience in foodservice and the ambient category in particular.

“He is highly regarded in the industry and just the type of person we need to develop our ambient offering.

“Troy hasn’t been with us long but he’s already impressed with his ideas and enthusiasm and he will play an important role in our growth and success.”

Fairway Foodservice is a buying and marketing organisation, which operates on behalf of wholesalers based in the UK, Ireland and Spain. Founded in 1984 by five frozen food wholesale distribution companies, it has grown from a collective turnover of £7m in 1984 to £626m in 2015.
