Monarch Airlines adds three new routes from Manchester Airport

Independent UK airline group Monarch has announced the addition of three new routes to its growing Manchester Airport offer.

The carrier is set to launch new services connecting the UK’s third-busiest airport with Swedish capital Stockholm, Porto in Portugal and the Croatian city of Zagreb.

To support the routes, an additional Monarch aircraft will operate at Manchester Airport during Summer 2017.

Monarch has also increased frequencies on its existing services for next summer, with nine flights heading to Barcelona each week, four to Lisbon and two to Rhodes.

Marjan Schoeke, the airline’s head of network development, said: “We are delighted to be announcing these three new exciting destinations to the Monarch network.

“Flights to Stockholm, Zagreb and Porto will operate all year round for those looking to book the perfect city break. We are sure that all three destinations will be a popular choice with our customers.”

He added: “In addition to these three new destinations Monarch has added frequencies to a number of routes already proving to be very popular from Manchester with our customers for summer 2017.”

Manchester Airport’s commercial director, Stephen Turner, commented: “It’s fantastic news that Monarch is increasing its presence at Manchester Airport next year by basing an additional aircraft on site.

“I’m sure the new routes to Porto, Stockholm and the currently un-served Zagreb will prove hugely popular with the 22m people in our catchment area.”

Stephen continued: “Zagreb is a beautiful, historic city with lots to offer visitors whilst the flights to Porto and Stockholm will provide further choice for passengers looking to fly to those two great cities.”
