North East manufacturers urged to seek out opportunities at NDI Conference
North East defence, space and particularly manufacturing companies are being urged to attend the NDI Annual Conference next month (Oct 13), an event showcasing how innovation is shaping future customer needs and growth opportunities in such sectors.
‘Growth through Innovation’ is being held over two days in Coventry and will bring together a lineup of speakers from businesses including Thales, Raytheon, Rolls Royce, Marshall, Axilium and BAE Systems, and UK Government.
Topics covered by speakers on day one will include cyber security, support for defence exports, current UK naval programmes, competitiveness, ways to exploit dual-use technology and how to work together to deliver capability and value to the UK.
There will also be a series of specialist interactive breakout sessions on dual use technology, the Space Applications Centre and cyber security.
Liz Mayes, Regional Director for EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation in the North East, said: “We would urge North East manufacturers to attend this event, there are some great opportunities within defence that are ready to be exploited.
“We know the region already has many strengths in this sector and this conference gives us a chance to build those.”
Andy Collier, Director of NDI said: “This will be a unique chance for companies to hear from those working at the forefront of our sector about the substantial opportunities and challenges we face.
“As well as learning about new technologies and best practice the event will also help identify and build relationships with new suppliers, customers and business partners.”
