JD Gyms prepares to open biggest fitness centre to date
A £2m gym is set to open next week at the former Kudos Nightclub in Wigan.
JD Gyms, part of retail group JD Sports Fashion, has created 15 jobs by turning the 26,000 sq ft space into its biggest fitness facility to date.
Located on Anjou Boulevard near the DW Stadium, the gym will feature more than 200 pieces of cardio and strength-building equipment.
Further, JD Gyms Wigan will offer fitness enthusiasts access to a sprint track, prowler track and saunas, as well as large studios hosting to 450 classes each month.
The site will likewise house the company’s first JD BURN – a new results-based bootcamp concept combining the use of functional training equipment with classes tailored to suit different health and fitness goals.
Alun Peacock, the gym’s managing director, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be bringing a brand new, low cost gym with a difference to Wigan.
“We’ll be offering exceptional fitness facilities, an unrivalled class timetable, luxury surroundings and saunas in a convenient location on a highly affordable basis.”
He added: “A gym of this caliber in this area has been a long time coming and we cannot wait to open the doors.”
JD Gyms Wigan will open its doors next Thursday (September 22).
