Axis strikes Freightliner deal for additional 50 trucks

Oxford-based contract hire and leasing company Axis Fleet Management has struck a deal to provide an additional 50 new MAN tractor units to Freightliner. The units will be fully liveried with Freightliner’s distinctive logo and are to be delivered this month.

Axis is providing the 50 new MAN TGX XLX 480 tractor units on a seven-year repair and maintenance contract. The tractor units will be fully ADR specified, with full catwalk infill and a full hatcher air management kit.

The latest deal further increases the number of Axis fleet vehicles on hire to Freightliner as the relationship between both companies continues to develop.

These new units are the latest Euro 6 series that boast a low carbon footprint and reduced fuel consumption. They are fitted with EBA (Electronic Brake Assist) allowing for an even more accurate interpretation of dangerous situations and increasing traffic safety. In addition, they are fitted with LGS (Lane Guard System), which notifies drivers when the vehicle inadvertently crosses the lane marking, prompting them to correct the road position. These vehicles are cleaner, safer and more cost effective.

As a leading intermodal freight transport operator in the UK, Freightliner required a reliable and cost effective fleet management supplier to fit their business model. Freightliner chose to work in partnership with Axis Fleet Management to deliver these high standards and has been doing so since 2007. The latest deal will further increase the number of Axis fleet vehicles on hire to Freightliner as the relationship between both companies continues to develop.

Neil Kinnear, Sales Director, Axis Fleet Management Ltd said:

“We are committed to providing our customers with cost effective and industry leading fleet solutions. The latest deal agreed with Freightliner is testament to our outlook to be the best in the industry when it comes to looking at innovative ways to support our customers.”
