Property consultants builds for expansion with new division launch

Projex, the project management and cost consultant, has expanded its Leeds office with six new appointments and the launch of a new division specialising in construction health and safety.

Chris Thomson has been appointed associate director and head of the new division which has been launched in response to address the industry’s growing focus on mitigating health and safety risks in construction following recent government legislation.

He is joined by senior health and safety consultant, Steve Silver.

Both were formerly with AA Projects where they led the health and safety division and a team of eight consultants working across three offices providing services to a range of local, national and framework clients.

The new division will provide key site services including principal designer, health and safety training, compliance and risk assessments on projects across the UK.

Chris commented: “This is an exciting opportunity to grow with one of the region’s most progressive consultancies and help clients and architects to mitigate development and construction risk from design stage through to completion.”

The project management team has expanded with the appointment of associate director Paul Taylor, a former senior project manager for Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc where he was in charge of new store developments and major extensions and refurbishments.

He will be responsible for retail project management which includes the £15m, 65,000 sq ft leisure extension to the White Rose Shopping Centre.

James Morphet, Charlie Cousins and Nick Livingstone have also been appointed as Leeds-based graduate building surveyors.

Director Barry Graham added: “We are pleased to be expanding the team with six new recruits as we approach the end of a very busy year.

“They bring a range of skills and knowledge that will enhance our already very strong consultancy services.”
